Josef Salvat's ♪ Hustler

Scouting for cover versions of recent pop hits, I stumbled upon this male-Lana Del Rey version of one of Rihanna's best known songs "Diamond". Thirty seconds into the track I knew this Salvat guy deserved my attention. Come hear why:

Girls Chase Boys Chase Girls

What would the music video industry be if it weren't for women in slinky bandage dresses flaunting dangerous curves on-screen? On the brink of poverty may be. May be not. We'll never know.

Even though most of us don’t get the opportunity to dine in the cafés of Madrid or dance in the clubs of Havana, it is possible to experience a sense of that cultural vibe wherever we are, through music. A few notes can transport you to another place, another time.

#oldschoolrock | Skid Row

Skid Row is an American heavy metal band, formed in 1986 in New Jersey. Lead singer Sebastian Bach is perfect with his vocals, and their rasp and violent solo guitar riffs fit well with the late 80s metal making it one of the most successful songs of the band. Plus, they had something extra -- a flick of the wrist, a flip of the hair, a cracked smile, and a gleam in the eye.

#OldSchoolFav | Billy Joel

Oh this is not a song one can easily tire of. I grew up listening to this guy, and I think it’s impossible to not become a fan of Billy Joel. This upbeat yet mellow track was released in the early 90s and peaked at the #1 position on numerous charts around the world.

"River of Dreams" is about the rather familiar quest of life we all undergo; the slightly daunting feeling in the pursuit of whatever we desire, the pursuit of even a chance of fulfilment. It is about searching for something within ourselves that may have shined in the past and may have dulled or faded over the years -- a purity, an energy, an idea.
"In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams"
Billy Joel is one of the best selling artists of all time with more than 150 million records sold worldwide, and is also a six-time Grammy Award winner who has been nominated for 23 Grammy Awards throughout his career. Joel offers plenty to get excited about, particularly his candid and thoughtful lyrics, and of course his gently rolling melody. Here are some of his songs that I love:

Gabriella Cilmi's ♪ Sweet About Me

Being a fan of Duffy and Amy Winehouse, the first time I heard "Sweet About Me" I instantly liked it. I thought her voice was unassumingly sexy!
